Regular examinations, i.e LOLER inspections, are essential to the safe working and operation of your access platforms (cherry pickers, boom lifts & scissor lifts). Current Government legislation states that an employer or owner must be responsible for any lifting equipment on site, and is legally obliged to maintain it in a safe working condition for the use of their employees. Our service team are on hand to explain the regulations, or to to offer advice and support - you can call them on 0845 108 4000 or email at service@ips-ltd.biz
The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 98 (otherwise known as LOLER) in accordance with PUWER 98 states that...all equipment must be inspected by a competent person at least every 6 months or more frequently if used in a hostile environment. A record of each inspection should be kept on file and readily available when requested.
In many ways this is like a car MOT, only it’s required every 6 months instead of yearly and must comply with LOLER inspection regulatory requirements. You can download the HSE guide to LOLER here or browse our Health & Safety section for further details .
