IPS and Yorkshire based Access equipment manufacturer, Planet Platforms, have come together to negotiate and confirm the sale of Planets' service department to IPS.
Planet Platforms service department will continue to function as normal until the date of handover, which is expected to be July 2010. Customers of Planet Platforms will see no disruptions to the service packages or existing contracts, as these will be honoured by IPS.
Planet Platforms' Managing Director Pete Pemberton said of the sale: "Planet would like to concentrate on developing bespoke access products and work at height solutions, whilst the service aspect of hydraulic platforms is looked after by specialist companies such as IPS. "We decided to go with IPS because of their exemplary reputation. They are not only one of the largest after-sales service company in the UK but also have a vast mobile engineer team, giving customers greater coverage and reduced downtimes."
During the final handover we should see the smooth integration of Planets’ service department into the IPS team. Tony Jennings Managing Director of IPS said, "By buying Planet's service department we will be looking to meet and exceed current service standards utilising our existing parts distribution network and central support desk. All our engineers are qualified and trained to manufacturer's standard complimenting those joining from Planet Platforms. Our mission is, and has always been to keep clients' downtime to an absolute minimum by offering the efficiencies of a 'one stop shop' for all powered access operators".
IPS will continue to look after all aspects of servicing, including L.O.L.E.R inspections, pre-planned maintenance and breakdwon call outs. Our workshop based repair and refurbishment centre covers all types of powered access equipment, including Booms, Scissor Lifts, Personnel Lifts, Truck Mounts, Trailer Mounts and Van Mounts.
