IPS has signed a 2 year deal with the UK’s market leader in access rental, Lavendon Access Services, to supply replacement parts within their UK rental businesses.
The national deal will see the IPS Parts Management System installed throughout Lavendon Access Services’ UK rental network specifically Nationwide Platforms, Panther and Skylift. IPS has already successfully installed the parts stocking system into 13 of the 45 rental branches including its new TechX accredited depots Nationwide Platforms Liverpool, Leicester, Swansea and Cardiff. Each location will initially hold up to 288 fast moving line items that have been tailored specifically for their fleets of JLG, UpRight, Skyjack, Genie and Liftlux machines, with the option to add additional manufacturer parts accordingly. Stock levels at each location will be monitored and replenished by IPS on a rotational basis from one of the four mobile parts sales vans covering the UK.
Lavendon Access Services’ recognises the benefits the Parts Management System brings to their operation; along with the improved productivity that comes with it. The simplified stocking system allows for faster identification of parts and an improved accessibility to stock, whilst reducing unnecessary downtime and expenditure - all contributing to an enhanced customer experience! The ethos behind this system complements Lavendon’s internal TechX (Technical Excellence) programme currently being rolled out across their depot network. The accreditation focuses on achieving best practice within the workplace, increased productivity and improved health & safety in a bid to attain and maintain the very best standards of service.
Mick Ledden, Operations Director for Lavendon Access Services’ comments on the new system, ‘We are very happy with what has been achieved so far - it has been a challenging and lengthy process, but we feel we now have a quality stocking system we can further build and develop. Our TechX team has worked alongside IPS to ensure the stock management complements our existing operation and work practices. The further challenge for IPS will be to continue delivering a high level of service throughout our depot network’.

As part of the Parts Management System, IPS provide detailed reports designed to monitor stock orders, identify common parts and analyse expenditure per location. Mick Ledden explains, ‘The interactive reporting is a huge benefit – we can dial in and see a snap shot of our spend and stock levels at any given time - IPS have essentially made it easy for us to work with them’.
IPS’ Managing Director Tony Jennings sums up the partnership ‘Since its launch in 2005 the Parts Management System has simplified stock control for rental depots throughout the UK. We are confident that the participating Nationwide Platforms, Panther and Skylift depots will see visible improvements in their overall stock management, and consequently their day to day engineering duties’.
